Age Of Apocalypse
The Age of Apocalypse comics follow an alternate universe in which Charles Xavier died at the hands of his son (Legion), long before founding the X-Men and his School. In this timeline, Magneto instead creates the X-Men and allies himself with somewhat familiar groups. America has been taken over by Apocalypse, Europe and Asia are were humans who survived have traveled to for refuge and a secret paradise called Avalon is home to mutant refugees. The X-Men Bishop, because he was a time-traveler to begin with, becomes stuck in this universe and is the only one that knows about the effects of Xavier's premature death. Magneto sees Bishops visions and is convinced he must go back in time to fix the present. Being the leader he is, Magneto sends his allies out on mission to slow Apocalypse and attempt attain the tools necessary to time-travel into the past, to undo the world ruled at the hands of Apocalypse. Enjoyed this timeline thoroughly, really liked the dynamic between Cyclops, Havoc (his brother) and Sinister (who has taken the parental role, since Xavier was not around). Also in Sinister's camp, is Beast, who in this universe looks at humanity as guinea pigs for his experiments. The tie-ins, alternate characters and stories are amazing. I did find myself stuck on the conundrum of how could Legion could kill his father, and then cease to exist. Definitely excited to see the cinematic rendition when it comes out next Spring!
